Named by Money Magazine in 2005 as one of the best places in the country to retire, Mundelein is a town with a peaceful, country-like atmosphere, good schools and incredible recreational facilities. Villagers can visit the town's northern section, which is comprised of a number of family-owned businesses; The Tri-State Tollway is nearby to get to O'Hare Airport.

Mundelein is well-known for its numerous golf courses. It has seven public courses located within or adjacent to its boundaries. Other recreational activities and facilities that villagers can take advantage of include boating, fishing, ice skating, and swimming on Diamond Lake; indoor and outdoor swimming pools; over 20 neighborhood parks; and a Mundelein Park District community center that contains a fitness center.
